Pottery Bottle
i found a lot of floor tiles buried near my back yard?
I was digging near my backyard and found a load of white floor tiles maybe a couple hundred pieces some of them very big (size of a pc screen)
At first i thought they were pottery.
They are stone on the underside but on the upside there is this white tile. I also found a piece of an engraved plate and an old little bottle.
I found them in an alley. its between a sports building and my backyard.
The houses in the area date from around 1900.
What could this be? Where did these bits of tile come from?
Your property may have been part of a larger place, a farm or something like that.
Years ago there weren't things like trash pick up. People burned what they could and picked a place to dispose of the rest. Probably if you dig deeper you'll find generations of things people discarded.
This used to be a favorite hobby of collectors. On weekends they'd go out in the country and try to locate old farmsteads and look for their discards.
Course all this is just supposition on my part. But I've been on a few treasure hunts!
